And so do these kids!
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. – John 10:10
More abundantly? How do you have more life? You are either breathing or you’re not. Unless…He isn’t talking about that at all, about the presence or absence of a heart beat. Note how He says “I” have come that they may have “life”. Christ, Himself IS our LIFE. That’s what He’s talking about when He says He came to give us abundant life. It has nothing to do with length of life or material possessions. “I am the way, the truth and the life.” (John 14:6)
The abundance He speaks of is an abundance of Himself. More Jesus! That’s the LIFE I need more than the very breath I breathe.
Thank you for all the prayer, love, and support that you have poured out on my family and I over the past two and a half years, as this life of mine was and is still being fought for. A God-given dream of mine has been to participate on an international missions trip, but between childbearing and sickness, I haven’t been able to for years…until now. Hopefully an opportunity to bring that abundant life to others!
My husband and I have an amazing opportunity this summer. We will be traveling to Santa Cruz, Bolivia to serve on a team with Every Nation Ministries and Bridge Ministries (ministry partners of our home church, New Song). The majority of the trip will be spent in the extremely impoverished, rural community of Pentaguazu, Bolivia. I will be serving as one of the medical providers and my husband will be running triage for the patients that come in. We will be seeing up to 600 people over the course of a few days—people who typically have no access to medical services.
As you may or may not know, my husband has been in school working towards beginning medical school next year. Part of the reason the Lord called him on this path was to expand the services he can offer on the mission field. With my medical background, our hope is to partner together on trips like these.
The second half of the trip will be spent evangelizing on the largest college campus (105,000 students!) in the city. We will also be connecting with other churches and encouraging them in the work of ministry that they do in the Santa Cruz area.
The trip is expensive, and we could use your help. The total base cost for the both of us is $6000 (flights are $1,550 each, ground costs are $1,000 each, etc.). We would be incredibly grateful for your financial (and prayer!) partnership. Any amount you are able to give would really help us out. If you are able, checks can be made out to Robert & Ferris Owen and mailed to me. Please message me if you would like to do this and I can give you the address. If you would like a tax deduction, you are more than welcome to make your check out to “Bridge Ministries” (but still mail it to us at the same address). If you would like to use a credit card, then you can give to our Facebook campaign: https://www.facebook.com/donate/144330153088251/?fundraiser_source=external_url
Thank you for reading this! Please join us as we try to give to those in need around the world.
“…for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you” (Acts 26:16 NKJV).
Ferris, Mike & I would be happy to donate. Mike has been on several medical mission trips to Honduras and nurses are needed desperately. You will be such an incredible witness and blessing to those you will serve. If you could send me your address, I will mail you a check. It irks me the fees that Paypal and the credit cards take. I want of the donation to go to you and your husband.
